ketchup!!!
Well hello there blog! I have neglected you so for the past couple of months.Reasons:
1. Busy. (so not really but with the semester ending and working full time it DID get crazy)
2. Lost camera.
3. Because of #2 = no pictures.
But i'm back.
Reasons:
1. No more school this semester! (I took off to enjoy my time with my hubs)
2. We got a camera for Christmas. (Thanks Dahls)
3. Aud burnt me a CD of pictures of the last couple of months = pictures to post!
So....now we start the slide show of the New York trip! Hold your hats cuz it's gonna be the bomb.
Grand central station. I have been to NY before but never had gone to grand central station! I totally felt like that part in the movie My Best Friends Wedding..... you know that scene where Dermont tells her she is pond scum....
Aaron buying his first hotdog only being on the streets for minutes.
Empire state building. While Katie was running all over New York we decided to do a little site seeing. We were going all over the town and thought we were close to the Empire state building but couldn't find it. It was RIGHT across the street from us and some locals over heard us talking. Way to not look up and see what is supposed to be one of the tallest building there. =we felt like losers.
Rockefeller Plaza. We were THIS close (holding up my hand in like an inch like motion) to going ice skating. Because how awesome would that be to say you've done it!??!??
In front of NBC. The reason were were so excited was because we TOTALLY thought we were going to see Kenneth the page, or Tracy Jordan from our fav show 30 Rock. Only hopes. No stars to be seen this day.
I guess I was super excited and wanted to give the peace sign cuz the Radio City Music Hall is so cool???!???
So the only episode of celebrity apprentice I watched was when they worked at this restaurant. I was tickled pink! Basically because I stepped in the same place that Sharon Osbourne did. I rock!
After missing Kate at mile 17 and tears of saddness, nervousness and excitement for her, we decided to catch a cab and book it to mile 24 in central park. And we totally found her and I got to run with her a little too! I'm SO proud of her she worked hard and completed a goal she had been training so long for!ANNNNNNND then we went to the best place ever to eat. JUNIORS. Which I can't even remember what I got, but I know I had onion rings and they were the best rings I have ever had. I might make a special trip to NY just for the rings. and then we topped it off with getting cheesecake to eat in our hotel room later that night.
Basically, this trip was about food.
Lovers in times square baby!
The next day my cousin Ashley who lives in Connecticut came into the city and brought our two favorite boys: Dane and Drew. It was so fun prancing around the city with these guys. We went to the M&M store and Dane helped me make my choice on candy.
Us with candy in hand. We are so happy right now! (And Katie went all over the city the next day --didn't even let her tired legs hold her down! And she wore her medal the whole weekend! It was very deserved!)
Aaron was adorable with the two boys. He played so many games with them and was a total Dane and Drew HOG!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats ok, I thought it was cute.
The girlas with Drew who was totally asleep. It was FREEZING that day. And when I say freezing, all the New Yorkers said, "This is the coldest day it's been all year!" Awesome for the 4 Arizona natives who have nothing more than a hoody in their closet.
After Ash left with the boys we went to dinner. At Olive garden. Why go to a place that is so conveniently located in AZ too? Cuz we went into this rink-a-dink deli and a half foot sub cost 28 dollars, so we thought we better leave. Dinner was a blast--eating with times square all around. After, we saw a broadway show: Rock of ages. It was about the 80's era and every song was an 80's cover. It was so good. Not too wholesome and pure, but who cares! It was so fun.
Us with our new friend (and only star we met this trip well.... BESIDES Jared from Subway.... if you even call that a star) Dee Snyder. Hello, from twisted sister?? Hello, that 80's song "We're not gonna take it...."He was in the musical and did a great job. And he is my best friend now, I even tell him bye as he is going back inside becuase we are super close friends. (Aud, it wasn't THAT funny)
Sisters on the way to Lady Liberty.
Our John Lennon pose for our baby brother Nay. All I remember about Lady Liberty is that it was WINDY and the hot chocolate was good.
Manhattan we love you, but you make us cold. And tired.
Right after Grey's we went to a quaint little cupcake shop. And LOOK. All of you who know me are saying to yourself, "Allie, it's a dream come true, tell me you took a shot!"
Went to strawberry fields cuz we had to. And plus all the Askins kids are forced to love the Beatles. Which is not a bad thing.
We stopped by the temple and the worker told us we could do a session, even though we didn't bring church clothes! It was so nice, NO we didn't go in but we totally could have!
Instead we went:
To eat again. Cuz we were hungry?? NO! We met up with some old Gilbert friends who live in New Jersey and came into the city to see us. We went to Chocolate by the Bald Man. It was delicious. Aaron even ate the lighter fluid to the fondue cuz everything was a-maz-ing!
If you ever go to NY you have gotta go to this place! Chocolate by the Bald Man is not only tasty but everything is in chocolate (well they have a chocolate menu, like french fries with chocolate....) Aud ordered the best shake ANY of us have EVER tasted!
The next morning we drove around the Bronx. By drive --I mean Katie in a panic, Aud taking pictures, me complaining cuz I wanted to get out of the car to see Yankee Stadium and Aaron trying to calm us all down....

Because I got a whoopie cake (two chocolate cookies with and INCH of frosting in the middle) and a chocolate frosted cupcake.
and ate them simultaneously.

We stopped by the Yankee Stadium and viewed the place from our car.
We went to Kmart to go to the bathroom and buy hot tamales.
We met a crazy man who was telling us about dinosaurs and evolution, WHICH Aaron managed to give him a pass along card.
We met a nice lady who let us follow her until we were sure how to get to Conneticut.
We wound up at Ash and Cale's house. She took us to see the Atlantic Ocean and we met up with Cale and Buffalo Wild Wings.
We played Ticket to Ride, laughed and chatted until way to late in the night (or way too early morning!) We miss the Dillinghams and we loved seeing them and visiting them!
(.....END OF NY TRIP.....)
The beginning of December my mom's family threw a family party at my Aunt Linda's house. It was great to see everyone. It's so sad we don't get together more often!
A happy day for our little family! Aaron graduated from ASU!!!! I am very proud of him and he worked very hard. He is so smart and determined. I love that about him! I know I am totally bragging, but he seriously is the SHIZ! He kept his scholarship all 4 years and graduated with honors. I am VERY excited to see where this year will take us! LOVE you Dahl!

LOVE you Dahl! And thanks to both of our families who were there! It is always fun to be with family and see the love they have for us!
Askins' kids with their Nannie. We went and visited the Dahls during the day and went to Nan's house Christmas eve, met up with the Dyers and opened gifts. I got all I had been wanting.
A heating pad. Pretty much I'm a 70 yr old woman and my back hurts all the time!
Christmas was awesome for like 72 billion reasons. I will give you a few
-We both were feeling better from being sick the whole month of December.
-We spent the night at my parents, Aaron got me the watch I had been wanting, Aud got me viva la juicy perfume, Rhea and Sam got me a frame I had SOOOO badly been wanting and I gave Aaron an Itouch that I had been keeping a secret (which is a huge success for me).
-We got to talk to my brother in Brazil. It was the first time we had heard his voice since March 31st. I love him and he is growing so much. It was just what I needed to hear his testimony on Christmas day.
-We got to skype with Taylor in England! It was WAY cool and he is looking good and doing so well! And we totally know is companion, Elder Wright, from our old ward! Tay is the cutest kid around.
-We hung out with family all day and night and loved every minute of it.
We had such a great year this year. It has been crazy and I'm sure this next year will be even crazier!
